Alarms ETC Teams With Groupon.com

Lakeland, Fla. – Alarms ETC and Groupon.com have teamed for a pilot
promotional program for iPod integration products at the retailer.

The Groupon deal that Alarms ETC
is promoting is an iPod integration piece featuring Scosche Industries’ FMMOD02
FM modulator, including installation.

“It’s a perfect fit for this type
of promotion. It attracts tech-savvy customers. It attracts customers with OEM
systems that are ripe for our additional upgrades. And it expands our market
exposure above the typical customers perception of a car stereo shop catering
to the ‘boom’ sound and positions us better as an integration specialist,” said
Joe Cassity, sales and operations manager.

Alarms ETC’s Groupon deal began
June 28 and will run for four days. Alarms ETC estimates that no matter how
many or how few deals they sell, they will actually break even thanks to the
costs offset their manufacturing partner, Scosche, has made on a special buy on
that piece. “For us, it’s not about making money on this particular sales, it’s
about having the opportunity for one more customer walking in our door and
giving us the opportunity to earn their future business,” said Cassity.

Groupon is a deal-of-the-day
website that is localized and serves 40 major markets in the U.S. They serve as
a group buying hub for local merchants to entice larger groups of individuals
to patron their business at a discounted rate.

The company offers one “Groupon” per
day in each of the markets it serves. The Groupon works as an assurance
contract: If a certain number of people sign up for the offer, the deal becomes
available to all those who bought in on the deal. If the predetermined minimum
is not met, no one gets the deal that day. This reduces risk for retailers, who
can treat the coupons as quantity discounts as well as sales promotion tools.

Groupon promotes their daily deal to more than
40,000 subscriber members, giving the advertising merchant a targeted audience
with spend-able income that’s willing to make their purchase providing the deal
is right.

Alarms ETC operates three stores
in central Florida and offers a wide variety of services / products including audio,
video, tint, rims, tires, performance and security.
