Sunnyvale, Calif. — Actiontec Electronics today began shipping its powerline MegaPlug AV 200MBps Ethernet adapter kit.
The kit carries a $169 suggested retail and includes two adapters and two Ethernet cables. The kit builds a home network capable of carrying large audio and HD video files around a home or for expanding a home network into areas unreachable by Wi-Fi.
One of the plugs attaches to the home network’s router while the other connects to any Ethernet port-equipped device in the home. Each network can support up to 16 such devices, the company said. The plug is designed so it will not block adjacent outlets.
