Beats Music Launches

SANTA MONICA, CALIF. — Beats Electronics muchanticipated music-streaming subscription service became available last week. Beats Music features a catalog of 20 million songs, according to the company, all available for a $9.99 monthly subscription fee.

Target will be an exclusive retail partner, offering the only place where consumers can purchase prepaid Beats Music gift cards, said Beats. The retailer will also offer one-month trials with any purchase made at its Electronics & Entertainment counter this week.

AT&T wireless customers, meanwhile, will be able to stream the service across 10 devices for $14.99 a month.

The service is available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices.

Cannon’s NCredible Packages Accessories With New Tablet

LAS VEGAS — Actor Nick Cannon traveled to International CES to provide updates on his partnership with Monster for his NCredible line of headphones and to announce the first NCredible tablet.

The Android tablet, which was developed jointly with Consolidated Marketing & Venture Partners, features an 8-inch screen, 16GB of memory, MicroSD slot, a quadcore processor, Bluetooth and an HDMI output. It comes packaged with two cases, a stylus, screen protector and cleaning cloth. Suggested retail is $199.

Jawbone Revisits Bluetooth Era

SAN FRANCISCO — Jawbone has updated its Era Bluetooth headset so that it’s 42 percent smaller than the original model.

Jawbone said it reengineered the ear bud and audio porting system to route sound directly into the user’s ear. The Era no longer requires an ear loop and comes with three sizes of tips.

Jawbone is also using MEMS microphones for the first time in one of its headsets.

Other features include digital signal processing (DSP), the company’s NoiseAssassin 4.0 sound technology for reducing background noise, 10 hours of talk time, a charging case with LED indicators. Pressing and holding the button on the back of the Era activates Siri or Google Now.

The Era, available in four colors, is currently shipping for a $129 suggested retail. It also comes without the charging case for $99.99.
