ABC Bid To Block Dish AutoHop Denied

New York – An attempt by ABC to block Dish Network’s AutoHop DVR ad-skipping system was blocked Wednesday by a federal court ruling here.

The decision by New York District Judge Laura Swain follows a similar recent federal appeals court decision, upholding a denial of an injunction against the technology sought by Fox Broadcasting.

“This decision is yet another victory for American consumers, and we are proud to have stood by their side in this important fight over the fundamental rights of consumer choice and control,” R. Stanton Dodge, Dish executive VP and general counsel stated. “This is the third federal court decision that has sided with Dish on consumers’ right to enjoy television as they want, when they want, including the right to skip commercials, if they so choose.”
