Santa Clara, Calif. — 8×8 will program its Tango video terminal adapter to display digital still images when not in use for video calling.
A firmware upgrade will let consumers load up to 16 still images onto the $99 device through a Web browser. The Tango features a 5-inch LCD screen.
The upgrade also lets existing Tango owners import Microsoft Outlook contacts (or other CSV format contacts) into the unit’s phonebook.
8×8 recently began distributing the Tango adapter through CompUSA.
