White House Holding AI Conference Today

Corporate conferees will likely seek greater federal funding for bleeding-edge research.

Representatives from 34 major U.S. companies ranging from tech giants Amazon, Facebook, Google, Intel and Microsoft, to Ford, Pfizer, Land O’Lakes and MasterCard, are expected to descend on the White House today for a summit on “Artificial Intelligence For American Industry.” Hosted by Michael Kratsios, deputy U.S. chief technology officer and deputy assistant to the president, the conferees will likely seek greater federal funding for bleeding-edge research in machine learning and AI, while government officials will look for ways to leverage those technologies for agriculture, health care and transportation.

“The White House is hosting an event with technology companies, academics and others Thursday (May 10) to talk about artificial intelligence (AI), someone familiar with the event confirmed to Multichannel News.”
