Verizon Taking Desperate Measures To Pry Note7 From Owners’ Hands

Despite weeks of exchange offers, warnings and even over-the-air updates to kill the recharge function, Verizon says it still has thousands of Samsung Galaxy Note7 customers who refuse to part with their potentially fiery phones. In a final straw, the carrier said it will automatically reroute any attempted calls from a Note7 to a service desk that will ask the owner to trade in his phone, and if that doesn’t work may bill the customer for the full cost of the handset.

“Some people must still really, really love their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones—despite the device’s flawed and dangerous design, which can cause the battery to catch fire.”
