Samsung Halts Galaxy Note 7 Shipments In Korea Amid Reports Of Exploding Batteries

Samsung has delayed shipments of its flagship Galaxy Note 7 phablet to South Korea’s top mobile carriers pending further QC testing amid reports of exploding batteries and phone fires. The crimp in an otherwise successful launch comes as Apple is expected to unveil its latest iPhone iteration on Wednesday; LG releases its top-of-the-line V20 smartphone on Tuesday; and all manner of mobile devices bow this weekend at IFA.

“The recovery in Samsung Electronics Co Ltd’s (005930.KS) mobile business suffered a blow on Thursday as reports of exploding batteries forced the firm to delay shipments of Galaxy Note 7 smartphones, and knocked $7 billion off its market value.”
