Plane Evacuated After Galaxy Note 7 Smoldered

A Southwest Airlines jet was evacuated before takeoff at Louisville International Airport when a passenger’s Samsung Galaxy Note 7 began burning. “I looked around to see what that popping noise was and there was just smoke billowing, pouring out of my pocket,” the phone’s owner told a TV reporter from local station WLKY.

“A Southwest Airlines flight was evacuated Wednesday at the gate at Louisville International Airport. Smoke was reported in the cabin at 9:20 a.m. while the plane was at the gate. Public safety fire and rescue responded and the plane was evacuated.”
