Discrimination suit against Panasonic settled

Three black women complained that Panasonic engaged in a “practice of disparate treatment, discrimination and retaliation against [non-Asian] minority and female employees.” The case harkens back to a decades-old suit by a caucasian executive at Sony that only Japanese people ascended Sony’s U.S. ranks. 

“A settlement has ended the heated, high-profile legal battle between Panasonic Corp. of America and three senior level female African-American employees who accused the company of discrimination and retaliation going back 24 years. A 2013 lawsuit filed by the executives – Glorina Williams Cruz, Sandra Karriem and Marilyn “Penny” Joseph – has been dismissed, according to a stipulation received by the court on Jan.”
