For a company that once belittled brick-and-mortar as overhead, Amazon has certainly taken on plenty of it, with dozens of U.S. distribution centers and six retail stores. Tomorrow the No. 1 e-tailer will open its seventh, a 4,000-square-foot bookstore located in New York’s Time Warner Center on Columbus Circle that will feature 3,000 tomes and a dedicated section of Amazon electronics. A second Manhattan store is due near Penn Station this summer.
