introduced Monday its BD-S673
and BD-S473 Blu-ray players, both of which are compatible with iOS, Android and
Kindle Fire A/V control apps.
The Yamaha BD-S473
will ship to dealers in August at a $230 suggested retail and the Wi-Fi-enabled
BD-S673 will be available in September for $330
The new players
also include streaming video support for BD-Live and BonusView.
Model BD-S673,
which adds built-in Wi-Fi access, will allow access to such popular streaming services
as Netflix and YouTube.
Both models
complement Yamaha’s currently available RX-V 73-series A/V receivers with a
common styling and connectivity, including one-touch power operation and
playback via the receivers’ scene buttons.
The BD-S673 model also
adds Blu-ray 3D compatibility.
Common features in
both the Yamaha BD-S673 and BD-S473 include 1080p/24kHz-compatible HDMI video
output, FullHD audio decoding, and playback of all current HD formats and FLAC
files.
Additional content
from portable devices and drives can be played back through front and back USB
ports.
“Our BD-S673 and
BD-S473 Blu-ray players enable consumers to harness and control the large
amounts of engaging content available to them from multiple sources and
formats,” said Tom Sumner, Yamaha America senior VP. “These models are a
perfect complement to our latest A/V receivers which, taken together, provide
superior home-theater solutions.”
The BD-S673 and BD-S473
are compatible with the following multimedia formats: AVCHD, WMV, MOV, MP4, MPG
(Video), JPEG (HD), MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC (Audio).
The BD-S673 also adds
DivX Plus HD compatibility. Both models can playback JPEG slideshows with MP3
audio soundtracks.
Other key audio
and video features include direct bitstream and multi-channel Linear PCM output
via HDMI, x.v.Color and Deep Color compatibility, as well as 1080p up-conversion
of DVDs, photos and home movies.
The BD-S673 also
offers analog two-channnel down-mixed audio output and a 192kHz/24-bit audio
DAC.
The Yamaha Scene
mode with HDMI CEC, which is available on most of the company’s A/V receivers,
enables users to power on the BD-S673 and BD-S473 models to playback content by
pressing a single button on the receiver. Additional advanced operation and
convenience features include DLNA client certification and onscreen display. An
intuitive setup wizard instantly readies both models for operation, and
Internet connectivity makes it possible to quickly download future firmware
updates.
