Industry Mourns Passing Of Cheryl Working

Leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication to her family and the consumer electronics industry

Cheryl Working

Cheryl Working, one of the original women of consumer electronics, has passed away. Working was part of a generation of women who were far more than spouses, becoming an integral and respected part of the CE/CEDIA industry.

Working entered the consumer electronics industry in 1984, joining her husband, Steve, at Audio Concepts, where she quickly became one of the early and most familiar female faces in hi-fi retail. Known for her warm personality, discerning ear, gracious smile, and old-school dedication to customer service, Cheryl built lasting relationships with clients, fellow retailers, and industry partners alike.

Whether welcoming customers in the showroom, working behind the scenes at Audio Concepts, or bringing laughter and energy to gatherings at PARA, CES, and CEDIA conferences, Cheryl left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her passion, professionalism, and spirited personality helped shape the culture of Audio Concepts for more than three decades.

A pillar of high-performance audio in Southern California, Audio Concepts became known not only for exceptional sound but for the relationships and trust Cheryl helped foster throughout the industry. Following the company’s sale to Oasis Smart Homes in October 2019, Cheryl retired after 35 years with Audio Concepts.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Stephen Working; daughters Kathryn Woodruff and Malia McClurg; and five beloved grandchildren — Olivia, Penelope, Henry, Jack, and Rachel.

At 71, Cheryl leaves behind a legacy of kindness, friendship, professionalism, and dedication to both her family and the consumer electronics industry.
