Mark Cosby is leaving Office Depot, where he has served as president of the office supply chain’s North American business for more than two years.
During the interim, however, a planned merger with Staples fell through; his boss, chairman/CEO Roland Smith, announced his retirement plans; and both Smith’s and Cosby’s jobs are being merged under a management reorganization.
Office Depot revealed Cosby’s departure earlier this month in a federal filing, and indicated that it is looking outside the company for a CEO successor.
Prior to joining the No. 2 office supply chain, Cosby was pharmacy president at CVS; president of Macy’s stores; president of Sears’ full-line stores; and chief operating officer of Kentucky Fried Chicken/Yum! Brands.
