Dallas – Veteran CE merchant Noah Herschman has joined online trading platform DHGate.com as COO.
Herschman, who for the past 30 years has variously served at Tweeter, Amazon.com, Staples China, eBay and Groupon Goods Asia, is part of a newly formed executive team tasked with expanding DHGate’s presence in the U.S. and other mature markets.
The Beijing-based company was founded in 2004 by Diane Wang, co-founder of Amazon China forerunner Joyo.com, as an e-commerce platform for the cross-border trading of Chinese-made goods. Products include cellphones and accessories, CE, computers and networking, health and beauty, and fashion and bridal, and the marketplace boasts some 4.5 million buyers in more than 200 countries.
“DHgate is providing direct, transactional access to China goods for small-to-medium enterprise and consumers — significantly reducing costs for products coming straight from leading manufacturers and factories,” Herschman said.
He added, “The company’s growth to date has been word of mouth. Our team is focused on taking an already great product and making it better and driving awareness.”
Joining him are international marketing VP Jimmy Lau, formerly with Alibaba; brand marketing senior director Carolyn Scott, a former DLP HDTV marketing exec with Texas Instruments; site marketing senior director Tonly Li, an alumnus of Google and YouTube; and former CafePress search engine marketer Jenny Chen, now head of search.
Herschman’s team is based here.
