LG’s SXSW Playhouse

LG plied the crowd with beer, ice cream and robots for its festival debut.

Robots. Lots of robots.

That was the futuristic theme at LG Electronics‘ first SXSW (South by Southwest) appearance last week, where it showcased its growing AI robot line CLOi .

The interactive prototypes were housed in an LG Inspiration Gallery showroom, where the company put its best tech innovation foot forward.

The robots, which LG is imbuing with communication and empathic skills, were joined by more immediately sensual devices, including a personal ice cream maker concept called Snowwhite; its just-introduced HomeBrew countertop beer-making system; and the CES standout, a rollable OLED TV.

The SXSW Conference & Festivals , now in its 31st year, describes itself as a celebration of “the convergence of the interactive, film and music industries,” replete with sessions, showcases, screenings and exhibitions by tech vendors and retailers, among many others. The event runs through March 17 in Austin, Texas.
