LG’s John Riddle Joins AHAM’s Majap Board

John Riddle, senior VP of home appliances and air solutions at LG Electronics USA, will have to make room for another title.

The white-goods veteran has been appointed to the Major Appliance Board of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), the industry trade group.

In his newest assignment, Riddle will support LG’s role in helping to shape the U.S. appliance industry over the next decade. He joins colleague John Taylor, LG’s public affairs and communications VP, who sits on AHAM’s board as first vice chair.

“I am both thrilled and energized by this opportunity to serve,” Riddle said. “With all the environmental, digital and innovations coming down the product road map, it’s critical that AHAM continues in a leadership position for the industry.”

Riddle acknowledged that Taylor’s recommendation played a part in his appointment, but he couldn’t be better suited for the position: Brought up in his dad’s business — Riddle’s Appliance, an independent Pennsylvania dealer — he spent more than two decades at Maytag where he held key sales management positions, and later served at Philips and Electrolux before joining LG in 2011.

Washington-based AHAM is a not-for-profit trade association representing manufacturers of major, portable and floor care home appliances and industry suppliers. A standards development organization accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), AHAM has authored numerous appliance performance testing standards used by manufacturers, consumer organizations and governmental bodies to rate and compare appliances.
