In 1956 Korean War vet Elmer Karl borrowed some money from his dad to open a TV store on Main Street in Gregory, S.D.

Sixty years later, a now 83-year-old Karl oversees 24 Karl’s TV, Audio, Appliances & Furniture stores that span seven states across the Upper Midwest.

The company recently celebrated its 60th birthday with an anniversary dinner for some 250 employees, friends and vendors in Sioux Falls, while local station KDLT-TV marked the milestone by airing a tribute to its founder, below.
