Ex-Best Buy Digital Chief Durchslag Named Angie’s List CEO

Scott Durchslag, who led the turnaround in Best Buy’s digital fortunes, was named president/CEO of Angie’s List.

Durchslag joined Best Buy in 2012 from Expedia as president of global e-commerce and later added marketing to his plate following the departure of digital strategies wunderkind Stephen Gillett.

He was CEO Hubert Joly’s first major hire after taking the company’s reins, but left the business last year and was succeeded by former Chico’s and L.L. Bean e-commerce chief Mary Lou Kelley.

During his brief tenure there, Durchslag was credited with driving Best Buy’s online revenue growth by revamping its multichannel platform, improving website functionality and customer satisfaction scores, developing a new credit card and loyalty program, and increasing the retailer’s digital marketing efforts.

Prior to that he served as president of Expedia Worldwide and COO of Skype Global; helped launch the Razr line while at Motorola; and was a partner at global consultancy McKinsey & Co.

In his new role at Angie’s List he will leverage his background in operations, marketing, product development and engineering to “fortify our position as a leading platform in the $800 billion local services marketplace,” said chairman John Chuang.
