D&H Posts Double-Digit Sales Growth

Harrisburg, Pa. — Tablets and other mobility products helped propel double-digit sales growth for D&H Distributing during its just-ended fiscal year.

According to the national IT and CE distributor, sales of tablets and other mobile devices grew 20 percent and showed particular strength during the first calendar quarter of 2014.

The company said its sales growth outpaced that of the overall distributor channel, while ancillary categories like sporting goods and housewares showed “considerable performance,” with sales of the latter rising nearly 45 percent year over year.

For its current fiscal year, which began May 1, D&H sees Ultra HD TV as a potential growth area as the technology settles into more mainstream screen sizes and price points.

“There is still plenty of potential for retailers and dealers in the mobile device categories,” said purchasing VP Rob Eby, “and through ongoing developments like Ultra HD, which is the type of vivid, see-for-yourself technology that will draw customers to a sales floor. Now that 4K has had some introductory time in the market, we are already seeing costs and footprints begin to normalize.”

Eby added that D&H’s strong fiscal year “reflects well on our retailers as well. It shows that if dealers are strategic and take advantage of opportunities, they can thrive.”

To further support their efforts, the company provides a suite of services that includes an interactive accessories guide to high-margin add-ons; a vendor-authorization program; and an incentive rewards plan that accrues points that can be redeemed online for merchandise.

Now in its 96th year, D&H operates five distribution that ship CE, mobility, home entertainment, home networking and automation, small office/home office, video surveillance, digital imaging and video gaming products throughout the U.S. and Canada.
