Dennis May has resigned as president/CEO from hhgregg.
The retailer announced the news Tuesday evening. According to an 8-K filed today with the Security & Exchange Commission, May is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Robert Riesbeck, current chief financial officer, has been appointed as interim president and CEO, and will also remain CFO. Riesbeck has been with hhgregg since 2014.
Despite high hopes for the holiday selling season, hhgregg was hurt by holiday promotions and experienced a rough fiscal third quarter — yet another difficult period in a string of losses. The retailer had once intended to expand into a nationwide chain but was forced to put those plans on hold.
TWICE reached out to the retailer for comment but hadn’t heard back as of this posting.
