hhgregg has hired Conn’s veteran Aaron Trahan as chief merchandising officer.

Trahan, whose dad David retired Jan. 1 as president of Conn’s retail division, succeeds Keith Zimmerman, who left the company last fall after less than two years in the job.

Trahan had been with Conn’s since 2002, when he joined as credit portfolio team lead, and worked his way up to merchandising VP.

In announcing the appointment, hhgregg president/CEO Robert Riesbeck cited Trahan’s track record in improving processes, optimizing the assortment and maximizing profits for a merchandise mix that Riesbeck is emulating.

“As we shift our focus to expanding our furniture business in 2017, Aaron’s unique background and expertise will be a huge asset in helping to drive the future growth and success of hhgregg," Riesbeck said. “We are excited to add Aaron’s leadership in appliances, electronics and furniture merchandising to our executive team and look forward to the contributions he is sure to make.”
