Caregiver Smart Solutions, makers of aging-at-home kits comprised of sensors and monitoring services to help ease caregiver concerns about caring for an aging parent, was the winner of this year’s ShowStoppers’ LaunchIt competition.
All 10 competitors are Eureka Park exhibitors with product ready to ship. Each competitor had four minutes to present, then underwent a Shark Tank-like Q&A from three judges: Nicholas Zaldastani, managing director of Zaldastani Ventures and a “mentor” capitalist; Kevin Harrington, who
Has launched more than 20 businesses that have grown to over $100 million in sales each, and has launched more than 500 products generating more than $5 billion in sales worldwide; and, Mike Johns, the host of the Tech This Out podcast as well as the founder of Digital Mind State, a millennial-focused marketing & consultancy agency.
Due to ship in Q2, Caregiver’s three monitoring kits – Basic ($99 plus $29/month monitoring), Deluxe ($199 plus $39/month monitoring), Deluxe + Monitoring Kit ($299 plus $49 monthly subscription) – all consist of a variety of small, non-intrusive sensors that learn a senior’s behaviors and tracks them in app, detects habit and behavioral changes that could signal trouble, and sends alerts to caregivers of potential or actual issues or emergencies such as falls. Each kit caters to different sized living areas and the number and type of monitored sensors. Caregiver is located at Eureka Park booth 51527.
The nine other competitors were:
- Aeronext (52702), developers of inspector drone technology that maintains drone stability similarly to a SteadyCam, even in strong winds
- D3 Products (50929), makers of the Intelashelf ($89.99), a Qi charging tray that slips between the mattress and a box spring and can simultaneously wireless charge up to three devices
- Groove X (52702), makers of the super-cute humanoid Lovot comfort robots ($3,000) that trills or purrs and reacts even just by locking eyes with it
- Inirv Labs (52981), which has created smart retrofit replacement knobs for existing gas or electric stoves to provide safety and automated cooking functions
- iWater Tech (50935), a two-piece Bluetooth shower head kit ($349) that reduces water use by detecting when you’re not under the spray
- Mui Labs (52702), which demonstrated its “smart” interactive touch-sensitive wood plank smart home hub
- Pulsewear (51529), producer of the DreamOn wearable band ($149) that emits a gentle pulse with nearly imperceptible haptic feedback to help you fall asleep
- Teracube (51849), a reliable, long-lasting, budget-priced smartphone ($279).
