“Most people probably know us from our past,” said Jason Fiber, THX chief operating officer and senior vice president. “We were founded by George Lucas in the 80s. We worked with a lot of cinemas originally to certify movie theaters to ensure the picture and sound experience was elevated. That is where the brand started. Lucasfilm sold the company and it’s now owned by Razer. We continue our mission to bring high-fidelity to entertainment through consumer electronics and cinema but also technologies like THX(R) Spatial Audio and THX AAA in our partner products. And this year we’ve hit another milestone; we’re proud to bring our first product directly to the consumer, the THX Onyx.”
Once the concept was nailed down for THX Onyx, the team hit the ground running. “It took a six-month development cycle which is quite fast in the electronics world,” said Andrew Mason, audio engineer for THX Ltd. “We were able to execute on a really solid product. Solid physically with its industrial design…but also extremely solid in terms of the audio quality itself.”
