Apple Upstaging CEDIA?

As yours truly, along with TWICE editors John Laposky, Joe Palenchar and Greg Tarr, prepare to tackle press day here at CEDIA Expo, could it be that Apple is trying to upstage another industry event again?

As you can see from Gizmodo, CNN, Yahoo and other sources all over the Web and on TV, Apple is holding a press conference in San Francisco at 10 a.m. PST, where the conjecture is typically in overdrive about the latest “refresh” as some call it, of the ubiquitous iPod line. Smaller, bigger, video, Beatles, no Beatles, etc., etc. — speculation is all over the map.

Something similar happened in January when International CES dates overlapped with Macworld and much of the tech press ran to Apple’s own trade show to find out more about iPhone. Is this a ploy on the part of Apple to upstage an industry trade show, or just another coincidence?

Either way, we’ll still be at CEDIA for the next few days, reporting on all the product introductions here for TWICE.com and the CEDIA Expo microsite which will be stocked with tons of news starting tomorrow, Sept. 6, the opening day of the show.

Oh, and later today, TWICE.com will give Apple’s announcements its due. We wouldn’t want to overlook the iPod, now would we?
