San Diego – Grace Digital today is introducing the EcoXpower pedal-powered smartphone charger and headlight for bicyclists.
The ruggedized EcoXpower comes with a universal mount that attaches to most standard and oversized bike hubs and a handlebar-mounted, water-resistant smartphone/GPS case.
It features an LED front headlight and red rear taillight that mounts to the bike’s front wheel hub. The included USB adapter cable runs up the front fork and into the handlebar smartphone case. As the front wheel of the bike turns, the EcoXpower’s clutch engages between the tire’s spokes, fueling a generator that powers the lighting system, the integrated lithium-ion rechargeable battery and the power jack for the smartphone. It also includes a handlebar-mounted on/off remote light switch.
The smartphone case is touchscreen-friendly and accommodates all major GPS devices and smartphone models including iPhone and Android phones, the company said.
