SIM2 Ships $5K Domino D60 Projector

High-end home theater display manufacturer SIM2, said it has added a new, more aggressively priced 1080p DLP front projector to its Domino series.

The Domino D60 is shipping to dealers and installers now at a $4,995 suggested retail.

“We now have three offerings under $10,000 that compete against anything else in this hot category,” stated Charlie Boornazian, sales and marketing VP of SIM2. “It’s important to our dealers that we offer a complete range of projectors that answer their full range of customer needs, and the new D60 delivers incredible 1080p picture quality and a tremendous value.”

The projector uses a single-chip DLP design using Texas Instruments’ 1080p DarkChip3 0.95-inch DMD chipset. The technology adds BrilliantColor technology to improve optical efficiency and extends the system’s available color gamut, while Dynamic Black contrast-enhancement significantly boosts effective black-level. Contrast ratio is listed at 10,000:1.

Operation is enhanced using three preset modes (Cinema, Dynamic, and Standard) and three user-customizable memories that enable installers to calibrate for the viewing environment or user preferences.

Jacks include dual HDMI inputs, component, and RGB-HD as well as serial control and 12v-trigger, and the versatility of powered vertical lens shift (+60/-40 percent), variable Iris, and 50-200-inch picture size.
