LaCie recently introduced a new addition to its family of LaCinema products with the LaCinema Classic HD.

The multimedia hard-disk player, available at a $249 suggested retail for a 1TB capacity version, features Full 1080p HD video playback, DLNA functionality and multiformat compatibility.

The device is designed to connect to a television and home-theater system to play back files for music, video and photos stored on an internal hard drive, or from directly connected devices, or by streaming content over a DLNA home network from a PC.

Users connect the device to in-home networks via an Ethernet cable or through an optional Wi-Fi adapter.

Using the device as a media server, users can stream content to Xbox 360 and PS3 gaming consoles.

The LaCinema HD will play a wide range of video formats, including DivX, MKV and H.264, and supports HDMI 1.3 output and Dolby Digital audio.
