JVC D-ILA PJ Pair Unveiled

JVC helped to kick off CEDIA Expo with a joint press conference from its consumer electronics and professional electronics groups.

The company revealed a pair of 1080p three-chip D-ILA projectors, one from each business unit. Both feature three 1,920 by 1080 D-ILA chips and 30,000:1 native (not dynamic) contrast ratios.

Both include HDMI 1.3 inputs, Fujinon lenses, Gennum video processing and customized gamma control. Both models will also stretch images to fill screens with 2.35:1 images at full resolution.

The DLA-HD100 will be offered by JVC’s consumer group, while the DLA-RS2 will come from the company’s professional group. Both are scheduled to ship in November at retail pricing of “under $8,000.”

Also at the event, JVC demonstrated the next generation of high-definition in a new 4K-by2K video projector that was said to produce four times the resolution of today’s high definition.

The technology is currently used for precision professional applications such as flight training. JVC executives said they expect the technology to eventually wind up in home entertainment applications.
