GoPro Ships Next-Gen Hero2 Video Camera

HALF MOON BAY, CALIF. —

GoPro recently introduced
the next generation
of its popular go-anywhere
1080p HD video camera –
the HD Hero2.

The latest edition is said
to be twice as powerful
as the original GoPro HD
Hero model and which
is available now through

www.gopro.com

and at
leading retailers including
Best Buy.

The HD Hero2 carries a
$300 suggested retail, records
FullHD 1080p video,
and captures 11-megapixel
digital stills at up to
a 10 photos per second
rate.

Other selectable video
resolution levels include
960p, 720p, and WVGA
at 120, 60, 48 and 30 fps.

GoPro said the mini water-tight camcorder was
improved over earlier models. The company added
a 2x faster image processor, 2x sharper glass lens,
Wi-Fi BacPac and Wi-Fi remote (both coming soon)
compatibility. It includes an integrated battery warmer
to extend battery charge life in colder temperatures,
a 3.6mm stereo external mic input, LED lights on all
sides that are viewable from
any angle, support for SD
cards up to 32GB in capacity,
a mini HDMI port, and
an improved easier-to-use
LCD interface.

The video cameras come
in a hinged clear watertight
plastic case that will resist
leaking to a depth of 197
feet, GoPro said.

The HD Hero2 is offered
in three configurations
tailored to different
uses: the Outdoor Edition
has a vented helmet strap,
a head strap, curved adhesive
mounts, flat adhesive
mounts and three-way pivot
arm.

The Surf Edition features
two adhesive surfboard
mounts and an FCS compatible
mount that makes it easy to plug the camera
into the deck of a surf board like an FCS fin.

The Motor Sports Edition includes a suction cup
mount, J-Hook buckle, curved adhesive mounts, flat
adhesive mounts and three-way pivot arm.
