GIC Introduces ipico Projector

NEW YORK –

General Imaging (GIC), better
known as the makers of GE-brand digital
cameras, branched out into the pico projector
category at CE Week by unveiling its iPico
projector attachment for iPod Touch and
iPhone devices.

The sleek handheld projector offers a patented
pop-up connector that turns an iPod Touch
or iPhone into a full-on social-media tool.

The projection engine uses ferro electric
liquid-crystal on silicon (FLCOS) technology,
and the light engine uses LED technology.

The General Imaging iPico will ship in time
for the holiday selling season at a $130 suggested
retail, and will let smaller handheld
iOS device users share videos, photos and
movies in real time by projecting them on almost
any surface.

No cables are required to connect the tiny
projector to the iPod Touch or iPhone.

A built-in connector pops up, enabling the
iOS device to slide into the iPico. The projector
casts up to a 100-inch viewable screen
size in dimmed viewing environments.

The projector weighs 3.35 ounces and is
about two-thirds the width of an iPhone. It
measures just more than half an inch thick.
When projecting, the iPico holds the iPod/
iPhone in place without the need to remove
the protective case.

The iPico will be available in white and will
include a built-in, rechargeable lithium-ion battery
and a USB charging cable. It will present
images in qHD resolution.

The iPico is compatible with the third- and
fourth-generation iPod Touch, iPhone 4S;
iPhone 4 and iPhone 3G S.
