Coby Cuts Snapp Prices During 20th Anniversary

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. –

In part to celebrate its 20th
Anniversary, Coby Electronics has lowered the price on
four diminutive Snapp pocket video cameras.

New suggested retail pricing on the Coby
Snapp video camera models is as follows:
$20 on the 3002, $30 on the 3002, $40 on
the 4505 and $50 on the 5002.

Original prices on the series ranged from
$40 to $100, the company said.

Coby has made significant gains in CE
distribution this year, with the brand reaching
the top 10 LCD TV unit volume suppliers
several times since January, and in May
it ranked in the top 5 in unit sales for MP3
players (including Apple), noted Michael
Paladino, Coby Electronics senior marketing
manager.

Coby is hoping the price move on the
Snapp pocket video cameras helps it capture
market share being relinquished by Flip,
following parent Cisco’s decision to drop the
category earlier this year, citing difficult profit
opportunities and growing competition other video camera
vendors and camera equipped smartphone suppliers.

Coby’s Snapp cameras ship pre-installed with muvee
automatic video-editing software.

Snapp CAM3002 is billed as a stylish “mini” video
camera designed with beginners in mind. It
features a 1.8-inch LCD viewfinder, flip-out
side-screen, photo capture and a 4x digital
zoom. It is powered by two AA batteries.

The Snapp CAM4002 is a swivel camcorder
featuring a more traditional video
camera design in a pocket-sized configuration.
It includes a 2.4-inch LCD, a front-flip
screen that rotates, photo capture and 4x
digital zoom.

It is powered by three AAA batteries.

The Coby Snapp CAM5002 is an HD
camcorder with 2-inch LCD electronic
viewfinder, 720p HD resolution, integrated
rechargeable battery, photo capture, integrated
speaker, and HDMI and composite
video output.

The Snapp CAM4505 is a bar-style unit
with a 2-inch screen, internal memory and
expandable SD/SDHC card slot, and twohour
rechargeable battery. It also takes
1.3-megapixel still pictures and doubles as a webcam.
