Petra Welcomes Students to 2016 Internship Program

EDMOND, Okla. — Petra Industries, the consumer electronic industry’s accessory authority, welcomed some temporary additions to their staff this summer with a Petra Internship Program.

Three students from Oklahoma colleges will be working side-by-side with Petra employees to expand their knowledge of the industry and examine their career choice from an insider’s perspective. During the program Petra mentors will utilize real life conditions and on the job scenarios to present the interns with a better understanding of working in a real business environment.

“We are excited to welcome these students to Petra because there is no better work experience than hands-on involvement” said Tate Morgan Petra President. “We plan to utilize their diverse talents as well as help them grow their knowledge and explore their chosen career paths as well as gain valuable insight into the corporate world.”

Not only are the students getting hands-on experience, they are also learning from each other and Petra leaders through weekly meetings. Twice a week they meet to discuss how their job is going, what they are learning and address questions. Once a week they are given a presentation by a guest speaker from inside Petra that allows them exclusive time with a company insider.

The three interns who are participating in Petra’s Internship Program Are:

  1. Emma Lukowski, a Senior at Oklahoma State University is working towards a Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing and is interning in the E-Commerce Department.
  2. Mathias Wicks Jr attends the University of Oklahoma where he is working toward a Master’s Degree in Human Relations and is interning in Petra’s People Services Department.
  3. Jordan Quinn Whipkey, a graduate of Southwestern Christian University is working on his Associates Degree in Digital Media and Design from Oklahoma Community College and is interning in the Marketing Department.

“The invaluable experience gained from an internship at Petra will educate, develop and prepare a student for life after graduation,” said Corbin Harrison, Director of Human Resources at Petra Industries. “These students will get to see exactly what it is like to work in their respective careers and work side by side with experts in the field.”

Petra’s Intern program is in partnership with InternOKC, a program of Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce’s Greater Grads division. This partnership allows interns to meet with other interns from all over the metro area and network with other companies’ in five different sessions to learn more about what the Oklahoma City community has to offer young people entering the workforce.
