Maytag Brand and Major League Baseball Want Americans to Get “Filthy”

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — Running for six weeks, Maytag and Major League Baseball want Americans to share their “filthiest plays” in a nationwide contest, “#MyFilthiestPlay”. As the official washer and dryer of MLB, Maytag is calling ball players of all ages to upload photos or videos of their sliding, diving or just “filthy plays” from the field using “#MyFilthiestPlay” on Twitter or Instagram, for weekly prizes, and the opportunity of a lifetime – a grand prize trip to the World Series, plus a Maytag Top Load Washer and Dryer pair.[1]

Part of an industry-first partnership, Maytag and MLB announced a “Filthiest Plays of the Week” sweepstakes in July, celebrating those MLB plays that make up some of the most fun and exciting parts of baseball and encouraging fans to vote on which plays they think bring home the “filth.” Now, Maytag and MLB are allowing fans to get in on the action and upload their own game shots every week – from Little Leagues, to work or association intramural teams, to tee-ball.

“Maytag created Filthiest Plays of the Week to glorify the players who give their all to the game and walk away from the field with a dirty uniform as their badge of honor,” says Brendan Bosch, Maytag senior brand manager. “Like these professional players, we know there are ball players at every level who play hard, and we want to reward their commitment and help them blast out filthy stains with our washers and dryers. From our factories in Ohio, our newest top load laundry pair is equipped to handle the filthiest of stains from the filthiest of plays.”

Each Sunday, the baseball pros at MLB will select one photo or video that hold the filthiest combination of power, grit and style. Winners will receive weekly prizes, and one lucky grand prize winner will receive a trip for four to a 2015 World Series game, plus a Maytag Top Load Washer and Dryer pair.
