IMSTA FESTA Miami to Feature Mixing Insights From Jimmy Douglass, Live Song Reviews Hosted by Warner/Chappell Music

TORONTO — Feb. 23, 2017 —

The International Music Software Trade Association (IMSTA) today announced that four-time Grammy(R) Award-winning engineer and producer Jimmy Douglass will present at the inaugural IMSTA FESTA Miami event, Feb. 25 at the SAE Institute Miami. Douglass, who has worked with artists including Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Snoop Dog, Missy Elliott, Rolling Stones, John Legend, and many others, will describe the “Mixing-in-the-Box” techniques he has refined over decades in the industry. The organization also announced today that the event’s live song reviews will be hosted by Warner/Chappell Music, the global music-publishing division of Warner Music Group that is home to legendary songwriters and a rich catalog of contemporary hits and influential standards.

“Our first IMSTA FESTA Miami event will feature truly amazing talent and technology that will inspire musical artists both creatively and technically,” said Ray Williams, managing director at IMSTA. “We are bringing together the best minds, innovators, and companies in the business of music and audio, and a variety of events throughout the day will give attendees a unique chance to engage with and learn from these industry leaders.”

Free to all registered attendees, IMSTA FESTA Miami will include the IMSTA Professional Panel Series, during which Douglass and other industry leaders will offer their perspectives and insights on music production. Technology exhibitions will be put on by top manufacturers including Native Instruments, Celemony, Solid State Logic, and many more. The IMSTA Master Class Series, featuring classes with Native Instruments, PreSonus, Celemony, IK Multimedia, FabFilter, and DJ Nitti Gritti, will teach attendees how to get the most out of the latest products from their favorite companies.

During the IMSTA FESTA Miami live song reviews, hosted by Warner/Chappell Music, attendees can play a song on their phone or music player and immediately get expert, educated, one-on-one appraisal from a songwriting and production perspective. One outstanding song from among those reviewed will be included in the regional final of the International Song Competition along with previously submitted songs. Crowned at IMSTA FESTA Miami, the regional winner will have the chance to win a free trip to Santorini, Greece, to be part of a song camp at Black Rock Studios.

The SAE Institute, Skit Skat, Broadjam, and NAMM are partnering with Sound on Sound, Electronic Musician, and Tape-Op magazines to co-sponsor a networking event open to all attendees.

IMSTA FESTA Miami will take place at the SAE Institute Miami campus at 16051 W. Dixie Highway, suite 200, in North Miami Beach. Admission is free, but all attendees must register in advance at
