HTSA Announces New Board of Directors for 2016

Barrington, IL –  The Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA) is pleased to announce new additions to their Board of Directors. HTSA members Franklin Karp, Audio Video Systems; Dan Paulson, Paulson’s Audio & Video; Brian Hudkins, Gramophone; Brian Perreault, Barrett’s Technology Solutions were all elected to lead the buying group for 2016 alongside existing president Leon Shaw of Audio Advice.

Franklin Karp of Audio Video Systems and Brian Hudkins of Gramophone are both returning to the board as veteran officers. Karp previously served as an officer when he was president of Harvey Electronics, but returns as COO of Audio Video Systems. A 40-year veteran of the consumer electronics industry, Karp has helped Audio Video Systems grow by 40 percent over the past nine years with his integration and retail experience. Brian Hudkins, Founder and CEO of Gramophone, has been a mainstay on the HTSA board for several years and has served a number of terms as president. Another long-time industry veteran, he helped establish Gramophone as Baltimore’s premier destination for custom home theaters, media rooms, smart home integration and more. Hudkins’ experience growing and managing the team at Gramophone has helped HTSA develop new best practices over the past few years.

“Franklin and Brian have both played integral roles in HTSA’s growth over the past two decades with their dedication and wealth of industry knowledge,” said Jon Robbins, executive director, HTSA. “With their combined business and BoD experience, the group is in the best hands as we move into our 20th year and tackle new challenges.”

Dan Paulson, Paulson’s Audio & Video, joins as one of the board newcomers who was honored with the Future Leader Award at the 2014 HTSA Fall Conference. Over the past several years, Dan’s forward-thinking mentality has helped usher his family’s business into the digital era. He embraced the benefits and importance of SEO, social media and SEM, and has worked to bring in new customers through a strong online presence. Brian Perreault, general manager of Barrett’s Technology Solutions was also named a Future Leader at the 2015 HTSA Fall Conference. Brian has brought a dedication to improved business strategies, innovative marketing tactics and commitment to customer service.

“Dan and Brian were both named Future Leaders over the past two years because they represent where we want HTSA to go in the next twenty years,” said Robbins. “They understand the importance of change and how critical it is to continue to innovate as an integrator. They’re fresh additions to our Board and come with new perspectives into business strategies for the next decade.”

All four new officers will join Leon Shaw, of Audio Advice, the leading provider of home theater, home automation and specialty electronics in North Carolina, who was elected to a two year term as president last year, and will serve throughout 2016. Other Board members include Jim Richards, FutureHome and Navot Shoresh, Spire Integrated Systems.
