Crosley Radio Announces Star Wars Turntable for 10th Annual Record Store Day

New Star Wars turntable marks the 4th time Crosley has presented the official turntable of Record Store Day, available only at independent record stores on April 22

(LOUISVILLE, KY – April 3, 2017) Crosley Radio, a leading audio brand since launching its first radio in the 1920s, today announces a Star Wars turntable in celebration of the 10th annual Record Store Day, and the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope. The limited-edition record player will be available only at participating independent record stores on Saturday, April 22.

Star Wars has been and will continue to be a staple in the entertainment industry that all generations love, making it an obvious choice for the theme of this year’s only turntable,” said director of marketing for Crosley Radio, Jason Menard. “We’re excited to see this unique turntable resonate with vinyl fans of all ages.”

Star Wars imagery will appear on the outside and inside of the special edition Crosley Cruiser Deluxe, a portable three-speed turntable that retails for $109.95, featuring pitch control and bluetooth capability. Designed to reflect the stylings of yesteryear, the Cruiser includes modern conveniences like dynamic full-range stereo speakers, a headphone jack and RCA outputs. Imagery celebrates the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope, and is based off of iconic poster art from the original release in May 1977. This is the fourth year that Crosley has released an exclusive Record Store Day turntable.

“Record Store Day and Crosley work together to create special turntables designed to be fun, collectible and appealing to a variety of demographics, including children (and adults who still connect to the children they were),” said Michael Kurtz, co-founder of Record Store Day. “These collaborations have proven to be a great way to introduce physical media, especially vinyl, to a variety of generations.”

2017 marks the 10th anniversary of Record Store Day, a day created to celebrate the physical record store and the role it plays in communities across the nation. Each year, more record stores are opening, and existing stores and chains expanding, responding to the consistent and rising demand for vinyl. As Record Store Day itself has grown to include stores in every continent with the exception of Antarctica, so to has its audience, which has included a much younger demographic, and more female customers, as of late.
