Sam’s Club Expands SquareTrade CE Coverage

Bentonville, Ark. — Sam’s Club is offering extended-service coverage for a wide array of CE products under a newly expanded pact with SquareTrade.

The program, available in Sam’s Club locations and online, now provides protection and service plans for TVs, smartphones, tablets, media players, computers, printers, cameras, gaming consoles and headphones.

San Francisco — Extended-warranty provider SquareTrade is teaming with repair chain uBreakiFix to launch a network of local repair locations in the largest cities in the U.S.

The SquareTrade Authorized Repair Network will kick off with more than 90 uBreakiFix and other local repair locations in the nation’s top metropolitan areas, allowing customers to get their smartphones repaired locally with no out-of-pocket expenses.

WASHINGTON – The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and SquareTrade, the extended-service plan provider, have collaborated on an instructional white paper for retailers seeking a service plan provider and higher attachment rates.

The report, based on CEA research released last fall, is the first in-depth analysis of protection-plan demand and consumer attitudes issued by the CEA. The trade association said it was prompted by recent changes in the extended-warranty industry and the growth of the mobile product segment.

San Francisco – SquareTrade, a direct seller of competitively priced extended service contracts, has hired former Expedia.com chief financial officer Michael Adler to serve in the same role.

The company has also named Dina Furash as strategic partnerships senior VP.

Both appointments are effective immediately.

In his new post, Adler is responsible for SquareTrade’s global finance functions including financial planning and analysis, accounting, tax, and treasury.
