LAS VEGAS – Sharp introduced here Monday 20 60-inch plus Aquos LED LCD TV models, more than half of which will incorporate the company’s proprietary Quattron quad-pixel technology.

The company is expanding its 60-, 70- and 80-inch screen-size offerings, with more feature selections and new slim cosmetic designs.

Philips Expands Soundbars, Adds Wireless Multi-Room Audio

The $249-suggested AW3000 single-chassis stereo speaker from Philips is among a family of Fidelio-series networked speakers that stream music from PCs and from Apple and Android smartphones.


LAS VEGAS — Philips is expanding its selection of soundbars here at CES, where it is also launching a wireless multi-room-audio system that uses smartphones and PCs as music sources.

Two of the new soundbars are the company’s first with detachable speakers that can be used as battery-powered wireless surround speakers.

Other new audio products, designed and built by Philips but marketed in the U.S. by P&F USA, include a new premium Bluetooth speaker, an iPod/iPhone-docking nostalgia radio, and a transportable iPod-docking music system with DJ functions.

Las Vegas – Sharp’s audio group came to CES with four new active soundbars, its first portable audio system in years, and its first Apple-docking microsystem with Apple’s new 8-pin Lightning connector.

LAS VEGAS – Pentax (Central Hall 15113) is presenting at International CES here a full range of digital cameras from ultra-compact point-and-shoots to advanced designer-styled DSLRs and mirrorless compacts.

The Gaming Router 5500L and the SharePort Go Plus travel router.

The Gaming Router 5500L, $269, has a Gigabit AC data transfer speed of up to 1.3GB per second in 802.11AC with another 450MB per second in 802.11N mode. The router features intelligent bandwidth allocation and comes with access to mydlink Cloud services.

LAS VEGAS – Canon is using International CES to introduce four Powershot point-&-shoot cameras highlighted by the new “N” compact model with advance WiFi connectivity.

In fact, two of the new models will employ WiFi to keep pace with imaging advances seen in the smartphone and a tablet arena.

The Powershot N and Elph 130IS are both Wi-Fi enabled and will easily link with smartphones and tablets to remote control the camera, and send and share images with friends and family without the need to connect to a PC.

Lenovo hopes to create a new category with its Table PC.


LAS VEGAS – Lenovo is introducing an entirely new class of computer called the Table PC and entering the gaming PC category at CES this year.

The company also rolled out new all-in-one PCs, a gaming desktop and new Ultrabooks.

Dubbed the IdeaCentre Horizon, the device is a computer centered on 27-inch 720p HD display that sits flat on a table and is meant to be used by families and groups, said Nick Reynolds, Lenovo’s director of worldwide consumer marketing. The Horizon is part of Lenovo’s “multi-user, multi-mode, multitouch” initiative.

Las Vegas – Seagate will introduce a new portable wireless storage device and a next generation network attached storage unit.

The Seagate Wireless Plus is a 1TB portable storage drive that connects to other mobile devices via Wi-Fi and USB cable enabling them to stream stored video and music. The Wireless Plus, now shipping with a $199 price tag, replaces the company’s Go Flex Satellite wireless drive, which will sell through and then be discontinued.
