New York — Specialty CE retailer J&R Music & Computer World has consolidated its stores, SKUs and staff to cut costs, recalibrate the business and improve the shopping experience.
As part of the restructuring, the iconic New York dealer has condensed its block-long row of storefronts in lower Manhattan into two buildings with a single entrance at 1 Park Row.

New York — Renowned singer-songwriter Paul Anka will make a guest appearance at J&R Music & Computer World this Friday, April 12.
Anka, whose hits include “Diana” and “You’re Having My Baby,” and who penned “My Way” for Frank Sinatra and co-wrote “This Is It” with Michael Jackson, will participate in a question-and-answer session at 5 p.m. hosted by famed pop music radio DJ “Cousin” Bruce Morrow.
New York – J&R Music and Computer World is joining forces with a local apparel chain to help leverage neighborhood traffic.
The downtown Manhattan A/V specialty dealer is mounting a cross-promotion with Century 21, a popular New York area clothing discounter which operates a department store-sized showroom just blocks away.
Under the promotion, shoppers who spend $100 at one retailer will receive a $10 gift card that can be redeemed at the other. The deal runs today through Sunday.
New York — J&R Music & Computer World has opened a pro audio department within its block-long string of CE stores in lower Manhattan.
The new 3,000-square-foot shop carries DJ controllers and mixers, reference monitors, pro-grade headphones, live sound and recording mixers, microphones, and portable PA systems, among other products.
The shop is located above J&R’s TV department at 31 Park Row, otherwise known as Store No. 8, within a previously underutilized space.
