Las Vegas – Speaker supplier Thiel Audio is going to International CES with a new industrial design said to offer a sleeker look than past designs while delivering superior on- and off-axis response uniformity, lower distortion, and improved power handling.
The new design will appear at CES in the shape of the TM3 two-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker, expected to ship in late spring at a targeted suggested retail of $2,999/pair in standard finishes, excluding optional floor stands. The industrial design will also appear in future Thiel speakers.

Lexington, Ky. — Thiel Audio hired audio-industry veteran Mark Mason as product development director, making him “the first in-house engineering presence for the brand” since company co-founder Jim Thiel passed away in 2009, the company said.
Thiel also hired an industrial design company for the first time to enhance product cosmetics, a spokesman told TWICE.

His appointment follows Thiel’s purchase late last year by a Nashville-based private-equity firm that includes Thiel’s new CEO Bill Thomas, an audio aficionado who hadn’t been involved previously in the consumer electronics industry.

Thiel president/CEO Kathy Gornik is leaving Thiel, which she co-founded in 1976, according to a company spokesperson.
