Bedminster, N.J. – Verizon Wireless posted strong gains in wireless operating revenue, margins, and income in the second quarter, thanks to a rising number of more profitable retail postpaid subscribers and a rise in revenues per account.
The carrier attributed rising revenues per account to rising data consumption driven by rising 4G LTE adoption rates and by the carrier’s Share Everything plans.

Basking Ridge, N.J. – Verizon Wireless will offer its first LTE-equipped ruggedized phone on June 27 when it launches Casio’s G’zOne Commando Android smartphone at $99.
The carrier currently offers the 3G version of the Commando smartphone at $49.
“This is our first G’zOne with 4G LTE,” a spokesman told TWICE. And “it’s our first ruggedized 4G LTE smartphone.”
The G’zOne features glove mode, enabling users to manipulate the touchscreen while wearing gloves.
Dallas – AT&T joined Verizon Wireless in announcing a new phone-upgrade policy in which subscribers won’t be eligible for a subsidized phone until their 24-month contract expires.
Consumers at both networks previously could get a subsidized handset in 20 months after signing a two-year contract.
Verizon announced its change in April.
New York — Windows and iOS-based smartphones are gaining sales share at a faster pace than Android smartphones, said research company Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.
In addition, the research firm reported that Verizon Wireless and Sprint are gaining smartphone sales share at the expense of their two rivals.
Ann Arbor, Mich. — Verizon led all TV providers for overall customer satisfaction in the most recent annual American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).
It was the fourth year in a row that Verizon had achieved the feat. DirecTV, which finished second overall, said it also took top spots in seven categories covered in the study.
The ACSI is a national economic indicator of customer evaluations of the quality of products and services available to household consumers in the United States.

The Android phone replaces LG’s Lucid, launched a year ago by Verizon at $79 and targeted, like the Lucid 2, to first-time smartphone users because of price and user-interface features.

Basking Ridge, N.J. — Verizon Wireless will join U.S. Cellular on March 7 in offering an LTE-equipped version of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, which comes with the S Pen stylus.
The stylus lets users annotate pictures and files with handwritten messages, draw pictures on screen, and preview a file or email message without opening it when the S Pen hovers over the file or message. Apps optimized for the S Pen are also available.
The Wi-Fi-only version of the Note 10.1 became available last year.
