Seoul, South Korea — A new feature that LG Electronics will add to its flagship Optimus G Pro smartphone will automatically pause video playback when a user’s eyes stray from the screen.
The feature, called Smart Video, uses the Android phone’s front-facing camera to detect when a user’s eyes wander.

The awards were presented to top products in a field of 4,662 competing entries from 1,865 manufacturers, designers and architects from 54 countries.
LG said it won the Red Dot: Best of the Best Award for its new curved OLED TV. LG also received 24 other Red ot design awards in addition to two honorable mentions.

Bath, England — LG Electronics’ U.K. sales division said Thursday that its long-anticipated 55-inch OLED HDTV is available for pre-orders at 9,999 pounds ($13,100) now, with deliveries slated for July.
LG said in January the 1080p 55-inch OLED model will go on sale in the United States later this month at a $12,000 suggested retail, but no official promotional retail launch plans have been announced. The set is already on sale in South Korea.

The two models are the Optimus F5 and F7, both of which are Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 phones. The F5’s worldwide rollout will begin in the second quarter in Europe, followed “soon” by the Optimus F7 in select markets, the company said.
Louisville, Ky. — GE has filed an antitrust suit against Whirlpool and four of its subsidiaries and suppliers for conspiring to inflate the price of refrigerator compressors.
The suit, filed last week in a federal court here, claims the subsidiaries, Embraco North America and Whirlpool S.A., colluded with European suppliers Danfoos A/S and Household Conpressors Holding SpA, to limit compressor production, raise prices, and allocate GE’s purchases among themselves to avoid competition.
Seoul, South Korea — The Optimus G Pro smartphone launched by LG is the company’s biggest-screen phone to date with 5.5-inch IPS display, the company’s first smartphone with full-HD 1080p display, and one of the industry’s first LTE smartphones with quad-core 1.7GHz CPU.
HTC’s OneX+, available in the U.S., already sports LTE and a Tegra quad-core 1.7GHz CPU. LG’s phone sports Qualcomm’s quad-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 processor.
Seoul, South Korea — LG will launch its next generation of Optimus L Android smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, where three Optimus L Series II phones will debut with upgraded features.
The company hasn’t said which models would come to the U.S. market or when, but L-series models have been sold by U.S. carriers in the past.
Paris – Subscription music service Deezer, based here, said Tuesday it is teaming up with TV manufacturers LG, Toshiba and, in Europe, Samsung to bring Deezer’s services to connected smart TVs.
Deezer provides unlimited access to more than 20 million song tracks to subscribers who own Deezer-enabled mobile connected devices, and now smart TVs.
The service is available in more than 180 countries. The company claimed to have added 43 million smart TVs in the last year, and it is predicting that to reach 95 million by 2016.
