Seoul - LG will expand into wireless multi-room audio, focus its soundbar selection on premium models, and expand its selection of under-TV Sound Plates when it goes to International CES, the company said in pre-announcing select introductions.
Also in its 2014 audio lineup, the company will launch two new soundbars, and launch three new Blu-ray players.

Seoul, South Korea — LG Electronics (LG) said it will offer next year a curved 105-inch Ultra HD LCD TV with a 21:9 aspect ratio.
The new super widescreen set, model 105UB9, was pre-announced by the parent company ahead of its planned unveiling at International CES in Las Vegas Jan. 7-10.
LG is calling the set -- “officially the largest curved TV ever made.”
Seoul – LG Electronics continued its pre-International CES product introductions today with the unveiling of its first Chrome-based all-in-one (AIO) PC.
The LG Chromebase is a 21.5-inch AIO running on Google’s Chrome operating system. The AIO follows the same design theory as the more common Chromebook laptops. It features 2GB of memory and 16GB of solid state storage with the idea the user would use a cloud-based storage site to hold the majority of their content.
Seoul – LG Electronics announced today it will introduce a line of premium computer monitors at 2014 International CES next month.
The line is the LG IPS 21:9 Ultra Wide series and will include the 34-inch and 29-inch models. Screen resolution is 3,440 by 1,440 and is intended for the commercial and consumer markets, particularly to high-end gamers.
The models come with Thunderbolt 2, HDMI and Displayport support, True Color Finder calibration and can reproduce 99 percent of the RGB color palette.
Pricing and shipping information were not available.
Seoul, South Korea — LG Electronics’ (LG) said Thursday that its Smart TV advanced speech and finger gesture recognition functions “have been validated” by global testing facility Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
The advanced speech and finger gesture functions in LG’s forthcoming premium Smart TVs “are the key components of an intuitive and enjoyable user experience,” LG said in a statement released here.
Seoul – LG’s G Pad 8.3 tablet has become the first tablet to be designated by Google as a Google Play Edition tablet.
It joins two Google Play Edition smartphones, one from Samsung and one from Sony.
The devices are available in the Google Play store and are positioned as offering the latest version of the Android OS, being the first to get automatic Android updates, offering a pure Google user experience, and coming preloaded with key Google apps such as Google Now, Chrome, Gmail, and You Tube.
Seoul, South Korea — LG Electronics (LG) said here Tuesday that it will be the first company to incorporate the AllJoyn open source software framework into its Smart TV platform, giving users a new level of interoperability between devices.
AllJoyn, which was developed by Qualcomm, is designed “to create a common language that seamlessly connects the Internet of Things, regardless of brand or operating system (OS),” the company said.
The technology will enable seamless multi-device interoperation and content sharing with next-generation LG Smart TVs.
Los Angeles — James Fishler, formerly LG Electronics USA marketing and go to market operations (CMO) senior VP, has joined Beats by Dr. Dre as sales VP, he revealed Monday through LinkedIn.
Fishler’s departure follows the recent announcement that Jay Vandenbree, LG Electronics USA Home Entertainment senior VP, will retire at the end of the year.
Vandenbree’s duties will be absorbed by incoming LG Electronics USA president William Cho.
Update! Seoul, South Korea — LG Electronics Wednesday disclosed 44 executive appointments, including three new corporate presidents and the reassignment of LG Electronics USA president Wayne Park to global sales and marketing officer.
The changes include a number of new executives to lead Home Entertainment operations and the global sales and marketing office.
Englewood, Cliff, – A nationwide survey of holiday shoppers conducted for LG Electronics discovered that 52 percent would rather receive an 84-inch Ultra HD Smart TV, than a watch, or jewelry worth $16,000 as a Christmas gift this year.
And before you think the survey must have been taken at a well-heeled men’s club, the tally dropped only marginally to 42 percent among the women.
In addition, 44 percent of consumers surveyed said they would rather receive a 55-inch smart TV valued at $2,300 than a trip to Europe.
