The G2 was unveiled last month and will be the focus of LG’s biggest cellphone marketing campaign to date. The G2 is the first LG flagship smartphone to be launched by all four national carriers.

Seoul, South Korea — LG will re-enter the tablet market at this week’s IFA 2013 trade show, where it will show an 8.3-inch Android tablet.
The unit will be rolled out globally in North America, Europe, Asia as well as other regions starting in the fourth quarter. Pricing of the LG G Pad 8.3 was not announced.
The Android 4.2.2 device, part of the company’s flagship G series of mobile devices, is promoted as the first 8-inch tablet with FullHD display.
El Segundo, Calif. — Even as the market for the first curved organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV sets begins to emerge, display markers are advancing another compelling application to follow – flexible OLEDs.
That’s right – flexible. Such technology would make for virtually unbreakable portable devices and could eventually lead to foldable or rollable self-emitting displays that can be rolled up and pulled down, like a window blind.
But it will still be three or four years before the big-screen applications are ready for primetime.
Englewood Cliffs, N.J. – The Ultra HDTV price slashing continued this week, after retailers revealed to TWICE that LG Electronics has responded to Sony’s and Samsung’s recent price moves by cutting the prices on its recently introduced 55- and 65-inch 4K LCD TV models.
An LG spokesman confirmed that the unilateral pricing policy (UPP) adjustments will take effect September 1, and will reduce the price tickets of the 55-inch 55LA9700 by $1,000 from $5,999 to $4,999, and the 65-inch 65LA9700 by $1,500 from $7,999 to $6,499.
Seoul, Korea – LG said it would go to next week’s IFA show in Berlin with its first TV-speaker base, joining a wide array of the company’s active soundbars.
Called the Sound Plate, the active TV speaker system is only 35mm (1.38 inches) in height. It’s designed for use with 32- to 55-inch TVs.
The model features 4.1-channel sound system with dual built-in subwoofers. Sound is projected in multiple directions to create an immersive experience, the company said. The system also features Bluetooth for wireless-audio streaming.
New York – Virgin Mobile’s first waterproof phone, a retro CDMA 1x flip phone, and a 4G LTE slider are among the new cellphones hitting the market.
The flip phone and slider are LG-made models for Verizon’s network. The slider is one of only a handful of smartphones on the market with a slide-from-the-side QWERTY keyboard.
New York — Showtime Networks and LG Electronics Thursday revealed a new partnership that is bringing Showtime’s second-screen Sho Sync app to the single screen of select LG smart TVs.
The app, which is scheduled to bring a range of interactive features to a number of Showtime’s most popular original TV series, will ride atop LG Electronics’ LivePlus interactive platform for Internet-connected TVs, enabling Showtime to present viewers with a range of live onscreen polls about storylines and characters within the program being viewed.
Bellevue, Wash. — T-Mobile is expanding its LTE smartphone selection with the addition of three new LG smartphones, which will also expand LG’s smartphone selection within the T-Mobile lineup.
The models include the G-series flagship G2 and the Optimus F6. Their price and availability will be announced in “the coming weeks,” T-Mobile said.
