Englewood Cliffs, N.J. — LG Electronics said Wednesday it is adding the PayPal e-commerce transaction service to its Smart TV platform.
The service is available now on 2013 LG smart TVs in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and will soon be included in LG smart TVs in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Australia, with other markets to follow.

Atlanta — The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Final Four in Atlanta was the first major U.S. sporting event recorded in 4K as part of a closed-circuit demonstration in Ultra High Definition by LG Electronics and partners the NCAA, CBS Sports and Turner Sports.
The action was captured in 4K resolution for displaying game highlights on LG’s 84-inch class Ultra HD TVs at private viewing locations in the Georgia Dome.

Seoul, South Korea — A new feature that LG Electronics will add to its flagship Optimus G Pro smartphone will automatically pause video playback when a user’s eyes stray from the screen.
The feature, called Smart Video, uses the Android phone’s front-facing camera to detect when a user’s eyes wander.
Seoul, South Korea — LG Electronics said 27 of its 2013 products recently received Red Dot design excellence awards from a panel of 37 independent judges.
The awards were presented to top products in a field of 4,662 competing entries from 1,865 manufacturers, designers and architects from 54 countries.
LG said it won the Red Dot: Best of the Best Award for its new curved OLED TV. LG also received 24 other Red ot design awards in addition to two honorable mentions.

Bath, England — LG Electronics’ U.K. sales division said Thursday that its long-anticipated 55-inch OLED HDTV is available for pre-orders at 9,999 pounds ($13,100) now, with deliveries slated for July.
LG said in January the 1080p 55-inch OLED model will go on sale in the United States later this month at a $12,000 suggested retail, but no official promotional retail launch plans have been announced. The set is already on sale in South Korea.
