Hauppauge, N.Y. — Voxx International reported higher net earnings but slightly lower sales in its fiscal second quarter, ended Aug. 31.
Net income for the quarter was $4.9 million compared with net income of $3.7 million for the comparable period last year. Net income for this year’s fiscal second quarter was favorably impacted by funds Voxx received as part of a class action settlement and funds related to the Circuit City bankruptcy.

Hauppauge, N.Y. — Voxx International announced it is teaming with Ford for Voxx’s Code Systems brand of remote starters.
Under the agreement, Code Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Voxx, will provide Ford Custom Accessories with a dealer-installed version of its remote-start and keyless entry smartphone app and hardware.
The device will be available for 2011 and newer F-150, Super Duty, Edge, Explorer and Lincoln MKX vehicles, and with 2013 or newer Taurus, Flex, Lincoln MKS or Lincoln MKT vehicles. Voxx said more vehicles are being planned.
Hauppauge, N.Y. — Audiovox Electronics launched two OEM radio camera interface products, marking its entry into the market.
The TYRVCH for Toyota and the MZRVCH for Mazda are part of the company’s Advanced Accessories line and will be sold under the Advent brand, which is exclusive to new car dealers and expeditors, Audiovox said.
New York — In response to a recent slew of media reports regarding lithium-ion batteries and battery-based charging devices heating up and catching fire, Voxx Accessories has sent out a letter to its dealers advising them to be very careful about what devices they choose to sell.
Hauppauge, N.Y. — Audiovox Electronics announced Dan Murphy has joined the company as telematics solution VP.
Murphy will be responsible for overseeing all location-based services programs, including Car Connection and its derivatives in the company’s connected lifestyle category.
Audiovox is a wholly owned subsidiary of Voxx International.
Murphy has previously held positions at Sony Electronics and XM Satellite Radio. He was mostly recently at Sureal SOS, a consumer emergency-response start-up.
Hauppauge, N.Y. — Voxx International turned a net profit and higher operating income, but sales were slightly off in its fiscal first quarter, ended May 31.
Net income was $2.1 million in the quarter compared with a prior year’s net loss of $4.7 million. Operating income for the quarter was $3.4 million, an 11.6 percent gain over the year-ago period performance of $3.1 million.
Net sales were $193 million, a decrease of $1 million, or 0.5 percent, compared with net sales of $194 million reported in the comparable year-ago period, Voxx reported.
CTIA 2013 Las Vegas — Voxx Accessories came to the CTIA convention to expand its 808 series of headphones and tabletop speakers and announce an availability date for its tabletop Soundboard speaker.
The $29-suggested Soundboard speaker, available in August, is the company’s first speaker with Soundflow technology, which lets users place a smartphone or MP3 player on a pad on top of the device to amplify the portable device’s sound. The intent is to simplify operation by eliminating the need for Bluetooth pairing.
CTIA 2013 Las Vegas – Bluetooth accessories maker SuperTooth entered into a distribution agreement with Voxx Accessories to market a co-branded line of portable audio equipment under Voxx’s Acoustic Research name.
Hauppauge, N.Y. — Voxx reported a double-digit sales gain and relative flat profits in its fiscal year, ended Feb. 28.
Net sales for the fiscal year were $835.6 million, an increase of 18.2 percent when compared with net sales of $707.1 million reported for the prior fiscal year.
Net income in fiscal 2013 was $22.5 million as compared with net income of $25.6 million for the prior year. Operating income was $41.7 million for the year, compared with $43.9 million in the comparable year-ago period.
Hauppauge, N.Y. — Stan Glasgow, former Sony Electronics chairman, has been nominated for election to the board of Voxx International.
The nomination, announced today, occurred March 22 and the election will take place at the Voxx annual shareholders’ meeting, scheduled to be held in July 2013.
