Melville, NY – Nikon said Thursday it reached the 80 millionth mark for total production of Nikkor and 1 Nikkor lenses for Nikon DSLR and mirrorless compact system carmeras, respectively.
Coincidentally, Nikkor lenses have also been produced for 80 years, the company said in a statement.
In January, Nikon announced two new additions to the current Nikkor lineup, including the AF-S Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR, super-telephoto lens compatible with Nikon’s FX-format D-SLRs that offers the longest focal length in the history of Nikkor autofocus (AF) lenses.

Melville, N.Y. – Nikon introduced Tuesday its latest 1 Nikkor lens – the 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2 medium telephoto lens, for the company’s popular Nikon 1 mirrorless compact system cameras.
The 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2, which is shipping in June in a choice of black or silver at a $900 suggested retail, was originally introduced as a development lens in October 2012. As a regular line introduction, the lens stands as “the fastest ever in the growing 1 Nikkor line,” Nikon said.
Tokyo — Nikon reported that net sales rose, but net and operating profits were down by double digits for its fiscal year, ended March 31.
Nikon said in its imaging products business, the interchangeable-lens market climate “took a sharp turn for the worse from the middle of the third quarter. Additionally, the compact digital camera market continued to shrink.” Sales for its precision equipment instruments business were also off.

The models include the Coolpix A DX format super telephoto with a $1,100 suggested retail, the Coolpix P330 compact bridge style camera at a suggested $330, and the S3500 at $140. All three ship in March.

Nikon’s D7100 offers pro-level durability features including weather sealing, a magnesium alloy body and a 150,000 cycle rated shutter.

Net sales for the first half were $4.74 billion (381 billion yen), up $703 million (56.5 billion yen) from the same period last year
Operating income was $521 million (41.8 billion yen), down $69.7 million (5.6 billion yen) from the same period last year.
