Nikon Unveils 7 CoolPix Models

Nikon’s CoolPix S9500 ($350 suggested retail) will feature 18.1-megapixel resolution, a 22x optical zoom lens and built-in WiFi connectivity when it ships next month.


Melville, N.Y. – Nikon introduced Tuesday seven CoolPix point-and-shoot cameras, several of which add wireless connectivity and/or super telephoto lenses.

The cameras include the CoolPix P520, AW110, S9500, L820, S31, S5200 and L28.

Nikon’s D5200 DSLR will ship in December with a number of step-ups over the D510
Nikon’s D5200 DSLR will ship in December with a number of step-ups over the D5100 including a 39-point AF system and 5fps burst shooting.


Melville, N.Y. – Nikon introduced Tuesday its D5200 DSLR offering several improvements over the D5100.

 Advances over the D5100, which continues in the line, are a 39-point autofocus system (up from the 11 points) and a 2,016-pixel RGB metering sensor.

The camera, which is scheduled for a December release at a price to be announced, will pack a 24.1-megapixel APS-C sensor and accepts SDHC and SDXC memory cards.

A new Expeed 3 processor helps lift burst shooting from four to five shots per second.

Nikon Sees 26% Hike In 1st-Half Sales Volume

Tokyo – Nikon said it saw its first-half sales volume climb 26 percent with interchangeable-lens-type cameras and lenses rising 21 percent for the period ending Sept. 30.

Net sales for the first half were $4.74 billion (381 billion yen), up $703 million (56.5 billion yen) from the same period last year

Operating income was $521 million (41.8 billion yen), down $69.7 million (5.6 billion yen) from the same period last year.
