LAS VEGAS — Samsung president Dr. Stephen Woo gave a terrific International CES big-stage keynote but was overwhelmed by the star power of another president — William Jefferson Clinton.

The 42nd president of the United States spoke passionately about the power of technology to help people around the world — especially the poor. Clinton also tackled gun control, climate change, healthcare challenges and the American political scene in 15 brief minutes.

The Fitbug Challenge

Attempting to answer the age-old question of “Just how much did I walk during International CES?” Fitbug handed out versions of its Bluetooth pedometer and is hosting a Walking Challenge during the show.

Although I’m sure there are plenty of press members who will scoff at my numbers (especially the TWICE photographers), here is my tally for Press Day and Day One of the show using the Fitbug Air:

Press Day:  12,391 steps

LAS VEGAS – TomTom upgraded its cellular-delivered HD (High Density) Traffic service with improved real-time detection of traffic incidents and more accurate time-of-arrival estimates, thanks to a major expansion of the number of vehicles tracked in real time to 76 million from a year-ago 3 million, the company announced.

The 6.0 version of HD Traffic “is able to report the location and length of traffic jams on highways five times more accurately than the previous version of TomTom HD Traffic,” the company said.
