Las Vegas — Definitive Technology, the supplier of high-performance component in-room and architectural speakers, continues to venture into new product categories with the planned CES launch of its first Bluetooth speaker, the $199-suggested Sound Cylinder.

The launch will follow the 2012 launch of the brand’s first active soundbar, a 5.1-channel model at a suggested $1,999 with included wireless subwoofer.

Las Vegas — Rockford Fosgate will go to International CES with more than 40 new car amplifiers, speakers, and factory-integration and application-specific products to round out the brand’s Power-, Punch- and Prime-series products.

The lineup will include the first 2-ohm single-voice-coil subwoofers in the Punch series. They’re designed to maximize the output of Rockford Fosgate’s mono-block amplifiers.

LG will introduce at International CES next week an expanded lineup of smart TVs, including models with immersive bezel and stand designs and enhanced onscreen interfaces.


Seoul, South Korea — LG’s parent company continued to let more cats out of the bag on its planned new product showcase for the upcoming 2013 International CES next week by revealing details on its core LCD TV and plasma lines.

The company previously tipped its hand on a spate of other TV offerings, including next-generation Google TVs, a short-throw laser-based DLP home-theater projector, and Ultra High-Definition and OLED advanced TV technologies.

LAS VEGAS – QP Optoelectronics of Suzhou, China, said it will travel International CES, held here Jan. 8-11, 2013, to unveil its breakthrough short-throw CloudView pico projector.

QP, which will be located in South Hall booth 35786, called the tiny display device “the world’s first ultra-short throw pico projector.”

The DLP-based CloudView can project an image five to 10 times larger than other pico-class projectors from a closer distance.

QP said it uses a patent-pending short-throw light engine technology to achieve the feat.

Pickering, Ontario – NAD will go to International CES with a new seven-channel amplifier that boasts lower standby power consumption than its predecessor and new cosmetics that match the brand’s T 187 surround sound preamp/processor.

The new amp is the $2,799-suggested T 977, whose standby power consumption has been reduced to less than 0.5 watts. An automatic standby mode has also been included to reduce power consumption.

Seoul, South Korea — LG Display revealed Thursday that it will introduce two additional screen sizes of Ultra High-Definition (UHD) LED LCD TVs — 55 and 65 inches — to join its currently available 84-inch set, at International CES in Las Vegas, starting Jan. 7.

The new screen sizes will be demonstrated LG Display’s “private booth” in the Bellagio Hotel Casino during show week, LG said.

Las Vegas – The IEEE’s International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE) will begin on Friday, January 11, the last day of International CES, here.

The ICCE is focusing on human device interaction with consumer electronics devices and will begin on January 11 in the upper North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center and conclude on Monday, January 14.
